Our Fortinet Accelerate 2024 Experience
Fortinet hosted their annual Accelerate conference in Las Vegas April 1-5, and the ACP CreativIT cyber team was there to not only learn from and network with Fortinet’s leading experts, we also had a team member compete in the Ultimate Fabric Challenge Global Championship! Here, we share our top takeaways from the event, along with the details of Kevin Carroll’s performance in the UFC.
Ultimate Fabric Challenge Global Championship
We're thrilled to share that Kevin Carroll, Cyber Security Architect at ACP CreativIT, had the opportunity to showcase his exceptional Fortinet skills while competing in the Ultimate Fabric Challenge Global Championship at Accelerate 2024.
This global conclusion to the UFC gathers top cyber engineers, engaging them in a series of tasks centered on Fortinet solutions. To be eligible to compete in this final championship in the series, Kevin had to place in the top 10 in earlier rounds of competition in the North America region.
Kevin's performance in the final, global round earned him 10th place worldwide and an impressive 3rd place in the country.
Fortinet Accelerate 2024 Announcements
The biggest announcement at Accelerate was Fortinet's unveiling of FortiOS 7.6, which is packed with hundreds of enhancements to the Fortinet Security Fabric, including Secure SD-WAN, SASE, ZTNA, automation, and more. Plus, it offers flexible consumption options — SaaS or PaaS.
FortiOS 7.6 introduces GenAI for threat analysis and product deployment, integrating FortiAI natively within Fortinet’s central data lake and unified management console. This means faster decision-making, quicker incident detection and remediation, and easy adoption of required technologies. It's like having a cybersecurity superhero on your team!
With comprehensive data protection capabilities, FortiOS 7.6 ensures sensitive information remains secure no matter where it resides within the hybrid network. Plus, endpoint detection and response features have been added to FortiClient, offering ransomware protection, behavior-based detections, and automated response. It's like having a personal bodyguard for your data!
Fortinet also shared how they are addressing the cyber skills shortage by offering out-of-the-box SIEM and SOAR services, as well as a Managed FortiGate Service to support network operations teams. These services help partners overcome the ongoing cyber skills shortage and streamline the digital transformation of their end customers. It's like having a cybersecurity boot camp at your fingertips!
